Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxy tryptamine), is a substance found in animals, plants, fungi and bacteria. In animals it is a hormone that anticipates the daily onset of darkness. It is synthesized in animal cells directly from the essential amino acid tryptophan, but in other organisms through the Shikimic acid pathway. In animals, melatonin is involved in the entrainment (synchronization) of the circadian rhythms of physiological functions including sleep timing, blood pressure regulation, seasonal reproduction and many others. Many of melatonin's biological effects in animals are produced through activation of melatonin receptors, while others are due to its role as a pervasive and powerful antioxidant, with a particular role in the protection of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA.

Our solutions/ advantages:
These are ready to fill beadlets. We also offer multi-unit particulate beadlets compressible into tablets.
Our manufacturing processes for Melatonin beadlets:
The powder of Melatonin is mixed with other excipients in a high shear mixer and the wet mass is fed into a single screw or a twin screw extruder, the wet extrudates are then fed in wet condition into a spheronizer. The spheronization time varies per product but in approximately 5 minutes the extrudates are converted into spherical round spheres which are then further dried in a fluid bed dryer then further coated in a bottom spray fluid bed coater when needed. A vacuum tray dryer is also used when the product demands sensitive drying.
